Stream iTunes Movies to Roku 3 Like Apple TV Does

Published on by Dream_lee

Roku 3 VS Apple TV, which is the most suitable stream box?

Many movie lovers like to buy a stream box for their home theater system. So that they can enjoy many online channels, or some personal videos on HDTV with big screen. The most popular stream boxes we can find on the market are Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV etc. But which is the best one?

Roku ($49-99)

If you are planning to buy Roku stream box, there are many hardware choice and price options to choose, like the flagship Roku 3 ($99). Roku 2($69), the Roku1 ($49) and the Stream Stick ($49). It offers a massive channel library that includes Netflix, Amazon Instant, HBO Go, Hulu Plus, Pandora, Spotify, Rdio, MLB.TV, NFL Now, Amazon Cloud Player, Vudu, PBS, TWC TV, and, yes, YouTube is also included. Other advantages of Roku like Headphone jack in the remote, Blazing-fast, Cross-platform search and Content-agnostic are also attractive.

But the only thing that's not perfect is Roku is not really airplay like Apple TV does.

Roku is starting to offer some of this functionality -- YouTube and Netflix are currently supported, plus you can push photos, music, and videos stored on your phone -- but it's not nearly as widely adopted as on the other boxes.

Apple TV ($99)

Apple TV is developed by Apple. It's an excellent iOS companion. If you own a lot of music, movies and/or TV shows on iTunes, the Apple TV lets you access all that content on your TV and connected sound system. It offers awesome airplay function than Roku. But Apple TV has fewer apps than Roku offers. And it's designed to push you to buy content from iTunes store. If you prefer to rent and buy content from other online stores, like Amazon or Vudu -- neither of which are currently available on Apple TV.

Now Roku can also play iTunes videos with TunesKit DRM Media Converter

As we all know, the reason that Roku can't stream iTunes videos is that all iTunes videos are DRM protected and can be played with Apple devices only. But fortunately, we find a 3rd party application to remove the iTunes DRM from both iTunes purchased and rented movies/TV shows - TunesKit DRM Media Converter.

Here is the detailed tutorial

Step 1. Download and Install TunesKit DRM Media Converter
